The Valley Arts Council opened applications this week for its annual public mural program, inviting local artists to submit proposals for large-scale works along the Riverwalk Corridor, the stretch of canal towpath that has become an increasingly popular spot for evening walks and cycling.
Selected artists will receive a stipend along with a materials budget, and murals are expected to be completed in time for the corridor’s fall festival season.
“We want the towpath to feel like an outdoor gallery, not just a place you pass through,” said program coordinator Bianca Solis. Applications close in late June, with selected artists announced in July.
