A new partnership with Arizona State University will bring a six-week coding bootcamp to local high school juniors and seniors this summer, giving students hands-on experience building websites and simple applications.
The program is taught by ASU computer science undergraduates as part of a service-learning course, giving the college students teaching experience while introducing high schoolers to a field many hadn’t previously considered.
“Half these kids didn’t know computer science was even an option for them,” said program coordinator Priya Deshmukh. The bootcamp runs three afternoons a week starting in June, with 40 spots available this summer.
