A regional food pantry network is expanding into three new zip codes this month, adding weekly distribution sites in areas a recent county needs assessment identified as food deserts.
The network, which already operates a dozen distribution points across the Valley, says the expansion was made possible by a combination of grant funding and a surge in volunteer sign-ups over the past six months.
“We’re trying to get within walking distance of the people who need it most,” said network director Sam Ozawa. New distribution sites open this weekend, with hours posted on the organization’s website.
