The city’s gallery district unveiled its first permanent sculpture walk this week, installing eight new works from local and regional artists along a stretch of the district’s main corridor that had sat largely undeveloped for years.
The project was funded through a combination of a city public-art grant and private donations from gallery owners in the district, who say the walk is meant to draw foot traffic between the area’s smaller, less-visited galleries.
“You used to just walk past this block to get somewhere else,” said district association president Marcus Feld. “Now it’s a destination in its own right.”
