County health officials launched a series of free heat safety clinics this week, offering heat-illness screenings and cooling supplies ahead of the Valley’s peak summer temperature season.
The clinics, held at community centers and libraries across the county, are aimed particularly at older adults and outdoor workers, two groups that account for a disproportionate share of heat-related emergency room visits each year.
“The first triple-digit week always catches people off guard,” said county health spokesperson Terri Nakamura. Clinic locations and schedules are posted on the county health department’s website.
