An Indigenous artists collective opened a new residency program this week inside a renovated former mill space, offering rotating six-month residencies to emerging artists working across painting, textile, and digital media.
The space includes shared studio areas, a small gallery for public showings, and housing stipends intended to make the residency accessible to artists who might not otherwise be able to relocate for the opportunity.
“A lot of residency programs assume you can already afford to take six months off,” said collective co-founder Dez Yazzie. “We wanted to remove that barrier.” The first cohort of three artists moves in next month.
