The Uptown Farmers Market will run year-round starting this summer, organizers announced this week, after a record-breaking spring season drew its largest crowds in the market’s twelve-year history.
The market had previously operated on a seasonal schedule, closing for roughly ten weeks during the hottest stretch of summer. Vendors will now shift to an early-morning format during peak heat months to keep both shoppers and produce comfortable.
“We had vendors asking us to stay open through August,” said market manager Lucia Fernandez. “The demand just wasn’t seasonal anymore.” The market currently hosts more than 60 local vendors each week.
