The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a package of election security measures this week, including expanded ballot tracking technology and additional post-election audit procedures ahead of next year’s elections.
County election officials said the upgrades were planned well in advance and are part of a routine modernization effort rather than a response to any specific incident.
“These are steps we’ve been planning since the last election cycle,” said the county’s elections director. The new measures will be phased in over the coming months, with full implementation expected before early voting begins next year.
