Valley Metro will roll out a significant overhaul of its weekend bus schedule starting in June, adding more frequent service along several high-ridership corridors while consolidating a handful of routes that have seen declining weekend ridership.
Transit officials say the changes were shaped by more than a year of ridership data and rider surveys, with an emphasis on improving access to job centers and the light rail line on Saturdays and Sundays.
Riders on affected routes will receive updated schedules by mail and via the Valley Metro app in the coming weeks. The agency says it expects the changes to reduce average weekend wait times by nearly a third on the busiest lines.
